Drug treatment is not a game or a sport. It is terribly serious and to not be taken lightly. Sometimes, while researching a rehab, it would be straightforward to get the impression that in order to get clean and sober, all you have got to do is register to a posh rehab in some exclusive California neighborhood, go through some motions and poof, instant recovery. If that were the case, then I would be the first person to tell you that that would be cash well spent. The reality of the matter is that quality of recovery is not conditional to spending giant amounts of money. If that were indeed true, then every single Hollywood actor or musician that checked into recovery would instantly be healed, and as we all recognize, that's not the case.
The real ugly truth is that though drug addiction is at first a choice, it's also a disease, and unlike other diseases, it will never be cured, but it can undoubtedly be arrested. However to try and do this takes an incredible amount of effort, tears, and honesty. And not like the flicks that usually have happy endings, there aren't any guarantees that the recovery will stick. Solely when the addict has achieved enough pain can the chance of recovery become a true option.
To put it in terms that are very straightforward: Drug and alcohol addiction rehab can only work to the measure that the addict is willing to work. That's why drug and alcohol recovery data are so unreliable. If a person does every thing their addiction consoler or treatment specialist tells them they need to do, then the chances of staying sober go up dramatically. However, on the other facet of things, if the recovering addict does only a number of these suggestions, or barely any, then their likelihood of recovery drops considerably,
Christian rehab probably posts greater recovery numbers for the straightforward reason that always times, the recovering addict is at wits-end by the point they seek out Christ and God. They have thus at this point more then likely already tried alternative recovery and self help, failed and relapsed, created more pain and suffering for themselves and their family's, and decided that they can't do this on their own. That is the sweetness of Christ...that He is always there waiting to be allowed to love and work within the life of the addict. This is not to say that recovery isn't attainable via alternative means, its merely to mention that Christian drug rehabs post better numbers then secular rehabs because by the time they make it to a Christian drug treatment center, they have been through and failed at other types of recovery.
Drug rehab and
Christian drug rehab is always going to be a hard and painful experience, however that doesn't mean that the recovering addict has to be miserable. Its never fun to face up to obligations that have been dodged for long durations of time and to start to make up and fix all of the harm, but there's no higher feeling then gaining control of what was once fully out of management, and turning that control over to the one who cannot mishandle the life of the addict. Life will once again be wonderful, and at the terribly least, manageable. For more info, please visit us at
